Dr. Karen Ackley is originally from Old Town, Maine.  She attended Colby College in Maine where she earned her B.A. in biology and was a starting pitcher for the softball team.  She moved to Florida after college and completed her medical school training at the University of South Florida.  Dr. Ackley then continued her medical education at USF where she completed her residency in Pediatrics.  Prior to joining Internal Medicine & Pediatrics of Tampa Bay, Dr. Ackley spent time working in both pediatric private practice and pediatric urgent care settings.  As a board-certified pediatrician, she specializes in both the acute and preventative care of our pediatric patients.  She has a special interest in sports medicine and pediatric acute care.  Dr. Ackley is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American Medical Association.   She is married to Dr. Mark Bilella, who is also a physician in the group.  They have two children together and she enjoys to read and travel.
